We have black bears and grizzly (brown) bears that often make their way through town. Come to Stewart and you’re almost sure to see a bear of some kind!
Border Information
While you are planning your trip to Stewart, BC / Hyder, AK, you might be wondering what our border restrictions are. Although there is no border going into Hyder, AK, you MUST report to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) on your way back to Canada. Please have proper travel documents (e.g. a valid passport along with another piece of ID) ready.
During unstaffed hours, telephone reporting is in place and mandatory.
